Nail Down
Nailing or stapling down wood floors is possible if a wood sub-floor in form of plywood exists in the house. It is common for older homes with crawl space and second floors to have a wood sub-floor surface in Florida. Usually 2" long nails or staples should be used for ¾” wood floors and shorter 1-3/4" or 1-1/2" nails might be used for thinner wood flooring like engineered wood floors.
It is important for your professional installer to carefully read the manufacturer installation instructions to avoid any issues with the installation and the warranty.
This type of installation is considered as a permanent method. It is important for the sub-floor to be as flat as possible to make sure the floors feel and look good. The installer must make sure the sub-floors are flat and secure before preforming the installation.
